NEWS FOR SMALAND AIRPORT
Bus Service from Jönköping and Kalmar to Smaland Airport

The continually expanding range of destinations offered by Smaland Airport has led to another positive development for travelers. On June 15, Swebus Express began service from the cities of Jönköping and Kalmar to Smaland Airport.
Many passengers have contacted Swebus Express to express a need and desire for these new lines. The main wish for those living in Jönköping and Kalmar has been an easy and convenient way to get to Smaland Airport in connection with various international flights.
“Smaland Airport’s current range of destinations in combination with their desire to offer more destinations in the future has helped create the right conditions for the formation of these new lines. Our ambition is to offer one departure per day from Kalmar and two per day from Jönköping (excluding Saturdays),” says Ingvar Ryggesjö, spokesman for Swebus Express.
Lars Håkansson, director of Smaland Airport, welcomes Swebus’s initiative.
“Better infrastructure to and from the airport has long been a priority and furthermore a necessity for continued expansion. We would like to welcome Swebus and its passengers to Smaland Airport,” concludes Lars.
Smaland Airport in Växjö currently offers regularly scheduled flights to Stockholm Arlanda, Stockholm Bromma, Düsseldorf Weeze and Berlin Tegel. In additional to these, seasonal flights to Visby, Åre, Sälen, Majorca, Crete and Cyprus are offered.
Swebus Express is the market leader for express busses in Sweden with 10,000 departures per week and over 2 million passengers per year. Swebus’s local networks are expanding and are now available to and from approximately 50 smaller cities. The major lines include over 150 destinations, most of which are located in Sweden but which also include destinations in Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic. The company’s headquarters are located in Solna.

New Operations Manager at Smaland Airport
Smaland Airport would like to welcome Mikael Lehtonen as the new operations manager. Mikael started his new position on January 7, 2009 after working for Sauer Danfoss in Älmhult. Previously, he has also been employed by Coca Cola in Stockholm as production and maintenance manager.
"This is a big challenge in an exciting industry," Mikael says. "At Smaland Airport, my job will be to lead and develop the work that takes place on, what we call, ‘The Ramp.' This includes maintaining the take off/landing strip, caring for aircraft that traffic the airport, maintaining vehicle parking lots and a number of other flight related services here at Smaland Airport.
"Mikael has a solid background even if his flight related experience is relatively little. The most important thing is to find someone with the qualities of a leader and the will to improve and develop both personnel and work methods. We believe that we have found such a person in Mikael Lehtonen," says Lars Håkansson, Director of Smaland Airport.
Stockholm 9 Times per Day
Today, there are more departures than ever before for those wanting to travel to Stockholm. Combined, Flysmaland and Skyways offer up to 9 flights per day on weekdays.

ATM at Smaland Airport
An ATM can now be found at the airport. All travelers can now conveniently withdraw money as a part of their journey. At the moment, only Swedish Crowns are available, but by the fall, it will also be possible to withdraw Euro.
"We are happy to be able to provide an ATM at the airport. It is a service that we think should be made available to all passengers," comments Lars Håkansson, managing director for Smaland Airport.
Nordea, as a service to the region's many travelers, will install the ATM.
"We have discussed the possibility of an ATM before, but it wasn't until recently that it could become a reality. That is of course due in large measure to the positive development at Smaland Airport but also due to the long and successful cooperation we have had with the airport in other areas," says Pär Karlsson from Nordea in Växjö.
