State-of-the-art air traffic control tower
Växjö Småland Airport has one of the most modern air control towers in Sweden. In the year 2000 a new digital communication system was installed to improve safety, and in 2001 a new system for automatic weather monitoring was installed. Weather information that is important to flight safety is monitored by sensors and relayed to the flight controllers. Within the airport's control area the tower is responsible for area monitoring, approach control and providing information to pilots.
Radar services are also provided under the TWRTID system. Because traffic at the airport is constantly changing, pilots in the air are also referred to NOTAM and AIP for more detailed information on opening hours, etc.
